Ford Zodiac Classic Car Engine Rebuild

An interesting project in GM Vehicle's workshop, a Ford Zodiac engine rebuild. A methodical strip down and clean is imperative for a smooth rebuild.

After removing the engine and dismanteling the engine, all parts are cleaned and checked for wear. Any parts found to be outside of factory tolerences are renewed with quality replacement parts. Amazingly, these are still in stock at our Classic Car parts suppliers.

A 'before and after' shot of the cylinder block being cleaned. It's important to remove all traces of old gasket and corrosion to ensure perfect sealing of the new head gasket.

Engine components wear at different rates, so it's important that if they are to be reused they are refitted in their original location. Laying out the cylinder head inlet and exhaust valves, push rods and springs like this helps to ensure mistakes are avoided on reassembly.

Before refitting the engine, the engine bay is given a spring clean. This is a great oppertunity to get access to all those areas that are hard to reach with the engine fitted.
